Data Removals & Corrections

How to request removal or correction of data held by ResolvDNS

What data we hold about domains

ResolvDNS caches publicly available domain data sourced from third-party registries to improve API performance. This includes:

  • WHOIS records — registrar, registration dates, name servers. Sourced from public WHOIS servers.
  • DNS records — A, AAAA, MX, NS, TXT, CNAME records. Sourced from public DNS resolvers.
  • SSL certificate data — issuer, validity dates, subject. Retrieved via standard TLS handshake.
  • RDAP data — registration status and country. Sourced from public RDAP servers.

All cached entries expire automatically within 1 hour. We do not hold or enrich this data with any private information.

Reasons we will remove or correct cached data

We will action a removal or correction request where:

  • You are the verified registrant of the domain and the cached data is factually incorrect
  • The domain has been transferred and the cached data reflects a previous owner
  • The data contains personal information that has since been removed from the public WHOIS record (e.g. following a GDPR request to your registrar)
  • The domain is subject to an active legal dispute and continued display of the data causes harm
  • You have identified a technical error in how we are displaying or interpreting public data

We cannot remove data that remains publicly available at the original source. Removal from our cache does not affect the underlying registry data — you will need to contact your registrar or DNS provider for that.

API key deletion

If you want your API key and associated usage logs deleted, include your key in your removal request and we will permanently delete it along with all usage records tied to it.
